The History of Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa.

Armathwaite Hall has a rich history dating back to the 11th century, when it was originally built as a fortified tower house. The tower was owned by the Skilbeck family until the 16th century, when it was sold to the Richmond family.

In the 18th century, the Richmond family built a new mansion on the site of the old tower, which became known as Armathwaite Hall. The mansion was designed in the Georgian style and featured a grand entrance hall, elegant reception rooms, and spacious bedrooms.

Over the years, Armathwaite Hall changed hands several times, and underwent various renovations and expansions. In the 19th century, the hall was owned by the Spedding family, who added a conservatory and a clock tower to the property.

During World War II, the hall was used as a convalescent home for wounded soldiers, and in the post-war years, it served as a hotel and conference center.

In 2008, Armathwaite Hall Hotel underwent a major renovation, which included the addition of a luxury spa, a new wing with 21 guest rooms and the Lime Trees function suite.

Today, Armathwaite Hall is a popular destination for weddings, conferences, and luxury getaways, and continues to be one of the most iconic buildings in the Lake District.
