The History of The Lodore Falls Hotel
The Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa is an historic hotel located near Keswick, a town in the north of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. The hotel is named after Lodore Falls, a nearby waterfall that is a popular tourist attraction.
The original Lodore Falls Hotel was build in the early 1800s and was popular with tourists who came to admire the natural beauty
of the area. In the mid-1800s, the hotel was acquired by a local entrepreneur named John Graves who extensively renovated and expanded the property, adding new wings and amenities.
In 1870, the hotel was sold to a group of investors who formed the Lodore Falls Company and continued to make improvements to the property. In 1911, the hotel was destroyed by fire but was quickly rebuilt on a grander scale, with a new wing added to accommodate the increasing number of guests.
During World War II, the hotel was requisitioned by the government and used as a convalescent home for injured soldiers. After the war, the hotel was returned to its former use and continued to be a popular destination for tourists visiting the Lake District.
In 2016, the hotel underwent a major renovation, which included the addition of a new spa and the refurbishment of many of the rooms and public areas. Today, the Lodore Falls Hotel remains a popular destination for visitors to the Lake District, offering luxurious accommodation, fine dining, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
