Winter Wedding photography at Askham Hall

A day of gorgeous wedding photography at Askham Hall in Cumbria is not something many Lake District wedding photographers would say no to! Particularly when it is a styled shoot set up by the amazing team at Aspire Photography Training and Tebbey and Co.

Emma Tebbey of Tebbey & Co was inspired by the muted colours found inside Askham Hall.  Wanting to produce a scheme that is sympathetic to the colours of the house and the availability of flowers during the winter season she chose soft pastels with pops of blue.

Emma’s defining mantra for this design was “Everything links to conditions, flowers and fruit available and at their peak at this time of year.”

The subdued tones and soft styling of the gorgeous Jesus Peiro wedding dress and vintage hair accessories together with gorgeous details, flowers, rings and champagne coupes all added to the laid-back vintage charm of a bye gone era.

Weddings at Askham Hall

Askham Hall is one of the premier wedding venues in the Eden Valley.  Next to the River Lowther, it is a cosy home from home with manicured lawns and it’s own kitchen garden.

The staff are very experienced at hosting weddings and can work with you to accommodate your needs whether you choose to get married at one of the local churches (there are two nearby)  or on site there are plenty of choices.

Within Askham Hall you can choose to get married in their Bank Barn, Medieval Hall, outdoor Garden Pavillion or if you are having a small and intimate affair or elopement you could choose the Hall for your mid-week wedding.

Wedding Photography at Askham Hall

So, you’re interested in getting married at Askham Hall which must mean you’re interested to know where are good places to have your photograph taken too right?  You’ll be pleased to know that Askham Hall has loads of places that will provide you with beautiful imagery.

Imagine yourself walking down the grand staircase, the train of your wedding dress trailing romantically behind.  Stunning shots can be captured from above and below.  The staircase might even provide a great place for your group shot in case the weather is less than kind!

The rest of the house is equally full of beautiful old details such as the library where our bridal portraits have been shot.  There are plenty of outdoor places in gardens, including the old gypsy caravan on the lawns and the gorgeous kitchen gardens we’ve used in this shoot.

Armathwaite Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre

The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky as we arrived at the Armathwaite Hall Hotel wedding fayre.  The hustle and bustle of final preparations for one of the best wedding events in the Lake District and indeed Cumbria were well underway.  Armathwaite Hall Hotel was displaying its public rooms at their finest.  The local registrar was in attendance and the lounge set for a ceremony with beautiful views of  Lake Bassenthwaite.  Example table settings provided by vendors keen to inspire brides in the Lake View Restaurant.

The main event is held in the Lime Trees Suite which leads into the Broadwater Suite.  The Broad Water suit is a fully equipped function room capable of seating 120 guests for your wedding breakfast.  A feast of ideas and inspiration lay inside from live music to wedding dresses and everything in between.  It brought back the excitement of planning our own wedding so we headed in to the Armathwaite Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre to talk to the wonderful businesses waiting to speak to you.

The Bespoke Florist

Armathwaite Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre - The Bespoke Florist

Stephanie Marrs of The Bespoke Florist was busy putting the finishing touches to her gorgeous floral arrangements when we met.  She sees the bouquet as the final flourish to the bridal attire, custom designed and lovingly arranged.  The flowers make a perfect extension to each brides unique style.  Stephanie’s recently opened showroom in Workington is a one-stop shop combining the bespoke floristry business with venue styling.  She can provide everything you need to decorate your ceremony, breakfast and beyond.  Stephanie believes the Woodland or rustic theme will continue with floral headdresses remaining popular in 2018.  You can expect to see lots of greenery and texture in her arrangements in the coming year.

Malu Designs

Armathwaite Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre - Malu Design Jan of Malu Design provides hand crafted, premium stationery from her base in Carlisle.  She is attracted to sparkles and gems making the final touches of producing your beautiful stationery Jan’s speciality.  You can choose to customise designs to your exact requirements or work with Jan to create completely unique stationery including save the dates, invitations and table plans.  This provides you with a cohesive look for your special day.  Jan predicts gold, silver and rose gold will remain popular in 2018.  She also believes textures will be popular too.

Mama Cakes

Armathwaite Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre - Mama CakesAs a regional finalist of the Wedding Industry Awards 2018, Claire Houghton-Byers of Mama Cakes, know’s what it takes to create the cake of your dreams.  Claire’s ethos is “there is no such thing as a Google cake in our studio”.  She works with you to design your cake from the bowl up!  Claire draws inspiration from your invites, chosen venue and maybe even your dress and flowers.  Quality, definitely trumps quantity in Claire’s world so she offers as many consultations as needed to make your cake perfect.  She recognises planning is an organic experience where changes can happen as new inspiration strikes.  Claire’s favourite cake decorations include wafer paper and unique colours.  This fits her predictions for 2018 which are navy, black and bold coloured cakes.  You can also expect to see blush pink, metallics and marbling featuring in her work.

Thomas Grey

Armathwaite Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre - Thomas Grey Bow TiesWe were instantly drawn to the bold colours displayed by Thomas Grey‘s canine bow ties.  Founder Laura Grey has tapped into the current trend of including your faithful friend in your wedding ceremony.  She creates each bow-tie by hand to ensure the highest quality.  Laura uses the finest tweeds to create the country feel in each quirky bow-tie.  Tweed is Laura’s passion and her favourite is the Northumbrian tweed which reminds her of her home in the North.  Thomas Grey bow-ties are proving to be very popular.  Laura is now taking orders for full size bow-ties for the man in your life so watch out for bold new colours and tartans in 2018.

Wilde and Romantic

Armathwaite Hall Hotel Wedding Fayre - Wilde and RomanticRecently crowned Best Venue Stylist in the North West Region of the 2018 Wedding Industry Awards, look no further than Wilde and Romantic for the ultimate in authentic vintage wedding styling.  Janet Wilde’s favourite china is the beautiful and mismatched pieces from the 1940’s and 50’s.  She combines the china with props and furniture to add a whimsical personality to your special day.  Janet’s background in art and keen eye for detail and the quirky have lead to features in online publications including becoming an Official Supplier of Rock My Wedding.  Brides can choose to use items from Wilde and Romantic’s store or commission Janet to personally style their wedding.

As the Armathwaite Hall Hotel wedding fayre draws to a close our only regret is that we didn’t talk to all the vendors.  Hopefully we will get the chance to introduce them to you soon.
